I agree with the dynamics you’re discussing here. The perfect is the enemy of the good. But if we choose good, I think we’re looking at the extinction of our species. This forces our hand over to perfect.
You’re right that a comprehensive Green New Deal is politically challenging. But taking the easier route, say, as you suggest, a revenue-neutral carbon tax, won’t actually solve our current global issues. It doesn’t go far enough (as I mention in the conclusion of my post).
It’s because of paradoxes like this that politicians like Ocasio-Cortez are getting elected. Americans understand that the political compromises offered by both the Republicans and Democrats are running our country (and planet) into the ground.
Ironically, the fact that Trump was able to get elected can be hope to us on the left that someone like Bernie can too.
